Summary:
This is a working Supervisor position The Maintenance Supervisor directs the safe completion of installation, repair, and upkeep operations of the company's facilities.
This role is responsible for directing, troubleshooting, and controlling all plant engineering/maintenance functions to obtain optimum efficiencies from the equipment, utilities, and overall facilities.
The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to have a solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and other related crafts and will be required to analyze, design, plan, and implement operational improvement processes.
This role is well versed in all maintenance processes and health and safety regulations and ensures that food safety protocols are followed.
The right candidate will direct and coordinate preventative and ad hoc maintenance activities; including maintenance projects, delivery of targeted performance objectives, and timetables and spending limits.
Position
Responsibilities:
Responsible for identifying productivity improvements across manufacturing operations using fact-based root cause analysis to develop and implement engineering solutions.
This may include business process improvement, equipment modification, improvements, and new capital projects.
Ensure no physical, chemical, or microbiological contamination of food occurs.
Schedule, train, supervise and motivate employees for the maintenance department.
Supervise and coach maintenance staff through communication and training programs, complete performance evaluations, and provide feedback to direct reports.
Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
Check electrical equipment and hydraulic systems of buildings to make sure they are functioning properly.
Specify and obtain bids, select and purchase required equipment, parts, and contract installation services for assigned projects to meet installation schedules and requirements.
Obtain and adopt all relevant requirements including building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary design, Good Manufacturing Practices, safety, code requirements and OSHA regulations on all work assignments.
Coordinate work performed by outside vendors.
Lead assigned projects through concept, design, installation, commissioning, and qualification to meet specified scope and identified project objectives.
Apply engineering principles to analyze and plan, prepare specifications, design process flows, and prepare and maintain all necessary drawings, costs, and approval documentation for the project and systems.
Plan and oversee all repairs, preventive maintenance, and installation activities.
Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
Submit engineering reports as necessary.
Responsible for commissioning and decommissioning al equipment for the facility.
Promote safety protocols and ensure that direct reports and outside contractors are complying with health and safety policies.
This includes machine safety, Personal Protective Equipment, material handling, welding, fall protection, and LOTO.
Lead and manage all activities and functions of the plant's Maintenance Department including trouble shooting equipment, electrical, mechanical and facility problems; following GMP's and food safety standards as needed to improve plant performance.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION Degree from a vocational/trade school or BSc/BA in facility management.
Preference given to candidate with 5
years of progressive maintenance experience of a food manufacturing/production facility dealing with project work, preventative maintenance administration, maintenance workforce management and budget responsibility, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of Food Safety Principles, Good Manufacturing Practices, Environmental Protection Agency and OSHA Requirements.
OTHER SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Capable of reading / interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and ability to troubleshoot based on drawings/prints.
Strong technical and problem-solving skills Proven experience as strong leader in a maintenance managerial role.
Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
Deep practical engineering knowledge.
Strong technical and problem-solving skills Timely project delivery, management, and cost control track record.
Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity and varying priorities simultaneously.
Working knowledge of facility machines and equipment.
Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
Strong attention to detail, with high degree of accuracy and precision.
