Position: Bookkeeper
Department: Reading, PA Corps Administration

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officer
Salary Grade: 76 Non-Exempt
Overview:
Performs all duties related to Corps finances, including the responsibilities of a full-charge bookkeeper.
Responsibilities
DUTIES:
Receipt income for Corps, HUD, EFSP, and UGI accounts, and complete regular bank deposits.
Manage the data entry and financial recording related to the direct mail program and Red Kettle Worker.
Assist with counting kettle income as needed.
Data Entry utilizing accounting software (SHELBY & Serenic), for receipts & invoices.
Issue checks for local vendors and DHQ payments.
Complete and submit monthly remittance forms to DHQ.
Payroll Manage employee attendance records. Complete and submit payroll data sheet to DHQ.
Reconcile monthly bank statements: Corps, HUD, EFSP, and UGI.
Record and compile in-kind gift income from the various departments.
Ensure that all kettle income is counted, recorded, and deposited per policy.
Prepare monthly reports for Corps officers and Advisory Board as needed.
Work with officers to create and implement annual Corps Operating Budget, and revise as needed.
Prepare fiscal portion of the United Way funding proposal.
Prepare fiscal portion of HUD grants, submissions and reports.
Work with internal and external auditors, providing information and documents as requested.
Work with corps officers to manage income and expenses, to stay within budget.
Work with corps officers to purchase supplies and equipment as needed.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
3 years related experience
AA/AS in Bookkeeping/Accounting w/ BA/BS in Business/Finance/Accounting or related field preferred
Computer Literate (with special in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel)
Ability to type and use calculators and other general office machines
Experience with Serenic accounting software is preferred
Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
